It's a season to be joly ... I love the Christmas season and I love to send out cards and tags with images I made myself, so here's a pixel Christmas mailbox ! This page is graphic intense because of the big screenshots, please give it time to load :)

Fire up your PSP, this tutorial can be done in all versions of PSP.

Remember to save often !

Open a new image 89 x 172. Set your paintbrush to : Shape = square, Size = 1, Hardness-Opacity-Density = 100, Step =25.

Important uncheck your anti-alias !!

Let's start with the base outline set your foreground color to #573824 (darkbrown) and your background colore to #F6E3A4 (lightbrown).

Save your work !

Select the inside of your base and floodfill it with #F6E3A4. Invert your selection and apply a drop shadow settings :

#CB5F4C (shadow color)
Offset : Vertical = 4 - Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 7 - Deselect.

Now for the mailbox. Set your foreground color to #000000 and your background color to #77343A. I've used this color for the snow outline : #9E9E9F.

Once you finished the outline of the mailbox. Select the inside of your mailbox and floodfill it with #F1FBFD. Invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

Offset : Vertical = -10 - Horizontal = -3
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 15 - Deselect.

Select the sides of the lid and floodfill it with #F1FBFD, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

Offset : Vertical = 2 - Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 5 - Deselect.

Select the inside of your lid and floodfill it with #F1FBFD, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

Offset : Vertical = -1 - Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 7 - Deselect.

Select the inner outside of your mailbox and floodfill it with #F1FBFD, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

Offset : Vertical = -1 - Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 7 - Deselect.

Select the inside of your handle and floodfill it with #E66F68, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

#6F0705 (shadow color)
Offset : Vertical = -1 - Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 65 and Blur = 5 - Deselect.

Select the inside of your snow and floodfill it with #FFFFFF, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

#9E9E9F (shadow color)
Offset : Vertical = -1 - Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 40 and Blur = 5 - Deselect.

Save your work !

We are going to add the holy now. I would advice to add a new raster layer here, if you mess up somewhere you only have to restart on this layer ;)

Colors you'll need : #384B45 (dark green) outside outline and #98C58F (light green) inside holy leaves.
#4A1A30 (dark red) outside holy berries and #A92733 (bright red) for the inside of the berries.

Save your work !

Save your work !

Now select the inside of the holy leaves and floodfill it with #98C58F, invert your selection and apply a dropshadow.

#384B45 (shadow color)
Offset : Vertical = -1 - Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 40 or 50 and Blur = 4 - Deselect.

Position your holy onto your base and merge all layers visible.
