I was fiddling around when I was redesigning my personale homepage when I came up with the idea to use a shelf as a title image. Instead of writing a selection tut for it, I decided to make it a pixel painting tutorial !
Fire up your PSP, this tutorial can be done in all versions of PSP.
Remember to save often !
Open a new image 187 x 100. Set your paintbrush to : Shape = square, Size = 1, Hardness-Opacity-Density = 100, Step =25. Color = #5E7A5E.
Important uncheck your anti-alias !!
Outline your shelf by using the screenshot below.

Save your work !

Once you're finished with the outline use your magic wand to select the inside of your shelf. Magic wand settings are RBG value, tolerance = 0, feather = 0, sample merged unchecked.
You may want to zoom in your picture so you'll have everything inside selected. Hold your shift key if you are selecting more areas.
Select & floodfill the the top shelfback with #A7BDA7. Add a new rasterlayer (rename it to cutout) and keep it active, apply a cutout (Effects - 3D effects - cutout) with following settings :
Shadowcolor = #5E7A5E - V = 3 & H = 2
Opacity = 60
Blur = 7
Deselect and save your work !
Go back to your outline layer and select & floodfill the upper shelf with #A7BDA7. Activate your coutoutlayer, apply a cutout (Effects - 3D effects - cutout) with following settings :
Shadowcolor = #5E7A5E - V = 3 & H = 2
Opacity = 60
Blur = 7
Deselect and save your work !
Go back to your outline layer and select & floodfill the frontside of your self with #A7BDA7. Activate your coutoutlayer, apply a cutout (Effects - 3D effects - cutout) with following settings :
Shadowcolor = #5E7A5E - V = -3 & H = 2
Opacity = 100
Blur = 7
Go back to your outline layer and select & floodfill the "legs" of your self with #A7BDA7. Activate your coutoutlayer, apply a cutout (Effects - 3D effects - cutout) with following settings :
Shadowcolor = #5E7A5E - V = 3 & H = 2
Opacity = 100
Blur = 7
Go back to your outline layer and select & floodfill the bar of your self with #A7BDA7. Activate your coutoutlayer, apply a cutout (Effects - 3D effects - cutout) with following settings :
Shadowcolor = #5E7A5E - V = 3 & H = 2
Opacity = 60
Blur = 7
Deselect. If you want to add some wood effects, grab your paintbrush and add some streaks, or add some noise (uniform - 5%)
Save your work and you are finished !!
You can colorize your self as often as you want matching your own pages :)
