I love roses, many of my websets and tags feature roses, so here's my try at a pixel rose !

Fire up your PSP, this tutorial can be done in all versions of PSP.

Remember to save often !

Open a new image 45 x42. Set your paintbrush to : Shape = square, Size = 1, Hardness-Opacity-Density = 100, Step =25. Color = #861003 and #364C2D for the stem.

Important uncheck your anti-alias !!

Outline your rose by using the screenshot below.

 

Save your work !

Once you're finished with the outline use your magic wand to select the inside of your rose. Magic wand settings are RBG value, tolerance = 0, feather = 0, sample merged unchecked.
You may want to zoom in your picture so you'll have everything inside selected. Hold your shift key if you are selecting more areas.

Select & floodfill the outside petals with #D85B4E. Go to selections and invert your selection. Go to Effects and apply a dropshadow with #861003.
Settings for your drop shadow are V = -1 & H = -2
Opacity = 50
Blur = 5

Deselect and save your work !

Select & floodfill the inside petals with #D85B4E. Go to selections and invert your selection. Go to Effects and apply a dropshadow with #861003.
Settings for your drop shadow are V = -2 & H = -2
Opacity = 85
Blur = 4

Deselect and save your work !

Select & floodfill the leave with #9CCE88. Go to selections and invert your selection. Go to Effects and apply a dropshadow with #364C2D.
Settings for your drop shadow are V = 1 & H = 2
Opacity = 65
Blur = 4

Select & floodfill the stem with #9CCE88. Go to selections and invert your selection. Go to Effects and apply a dropshadow with #364C2D.
Settings for your drop shadow are V = 1 & H = 1
Opacity = 85
Blur = 7

Save your work and you are finished !!
